Here Comes the King book. Henry VIII’s royal jester Will Sommers gets a fairly major role, which is nice to see him as a real character and not just a part of the setting. The title of Philip Lindsay's novel of Katherine Howard, Here Comes The King initially struck me as a rather ridiculous one, like if Henry VIII had a reality TV show-.

PHILIP LINDSAY'S realistic portrait of Morgan the freebooter showed his ability to reproduce a brutal age with a stark truthfulness that precluded offense. This later historically accurate and finely imaginative attempt to re-create the tragic story of Henry VIII's final bid for personal and domestic happiness with his fifth Queen, Katherine Howard, is not so much a step as a leap forward in the same direction. My only problem with the book is the title. Makes me think of Flip Wilson and "Here comes the judge, here comes the judge". But otherwise it is quite a good book. And, it was written by a man. (Unless it is a pseudonym.) But you can almost tell that because of the massive amounts of sympathy towards the characters. Some facts are facts. Henry marries a very young girl-kind of pervy if you ask me-then gets mad when he finds he has been cuckolded. Catherine Howard is a typical teenage, living in the moment. Those are the facts. Catherine knows perfectly well what's going to happen if she gets caught, yet does it anyway. As does Culpepper. And they don't care. I mean, that is basically the story of Catherine Howard & Henry VIII. I realize times were different then, and this is another interesting take on that time.

I really enjoy Historical Fiction but this book was hard to get into. It dragged on and on and needed to be proofed as this book is full of errors.

It was okay. It wasn't about the king but about Katherine Howard and her relationship with Culpepper. Not much about her relationship with Henry.

I'm not even done with the book yet. But so far it's good. Except for having 2 pages missing. What's up with that?? I did download it on kindle. I've asked a few friends and they have never had that happen. So weird. I'll definitely be unhappy if more pages are missing.
