Christmas Eve is not an official holiday here. Hence most people have to work. However, many workplaces hold Christmas parties or celebrations, so there is a celebratory air to the day. For kids, it is a day of great joy since most schools and other educational establishments are usually closed. But the other parts of British North America celebrated the festival with utmost joy and enthusiasm. The costumed revelers would go door to door and give small gifts of food and drink.

For example, roasted Turkey is a must for Christmas dinner in England, while some American households might opt for ham or goose. Other slight differences that are reserved only for Christmas in England include bread sauce, which isn’t a sauce for bread, but a sauce thickened with bread, and bacon wrapped sausages

The feel and vibe of Christmas is same everywhere, but there are certain differences in how it is celebrated on either sides of the Pond. The one vision that gives the best Christmas feeling is the placement of gifts under the tree, but this is how the Americans get their presents.
