Although the history of Turner's journeys through Switzerland was fascinating, from an artist's perspective, the book felt lacking. Ken Howard usually gives a lot more of his artistic thoughts about a subject, & I thought that was really a problem in this particular book. I did wonder often throughout the book if perhaps accommodations for him to paint were not adequate. I do know that he is an intrepid outdoor painter, but one does need some kind of cooperation from the elements to produce memorable works
