Series: Five Star Mystery Series. Hardcover: 336 pages I really enjoyed this thriller. We know who the murder is, and have some idea of things that other authors may have tried to (probably unsuccessfully) make a surprise. Hardcover: 336 pages. Publisher: Five Star (February 16, 2011). I really enjoyed this thriller. This worked because the thrill of the story was how they were going to get where they needed to go and how the characters succeed or fail in their goals. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride!

This is a fascinating late Victorian whodunit that in many ways is more historical than mystery. The story line is very vivid as it cleverly sets the time via tidbits like the year after Prince Albert died and the employment of a pre-teen as a chimney sweep. Fans of late nineteenth century tales with a different flavor will want to read this fine amateur sleuth, as Tom tells the saga of Bessie from his "flue theory of life" perspective. Hardcover: 263 pages. Also, the woman with whom Jeff had connected in the first book was no longer the sympathetic confidant.

She had somehow become the best friend of Jeff's brother's fiance and took every opportunity to shove a past incident involving Jeff's brother in Jeff's face. She came across as angry and shrewish.

When Quince is murdered, they become the prime suspects in a modern day whodunit. Plot Summary Plot Synopsis. Bears a passing resemblance to the Tommy and Tuppence Beresford series of novels by Agatha Christie in which a married couple find themselves mixed up in all kinds of mysteries, they have money trouble, and the wife is much more engaged in the mystery than the husband is. A major difference between Tommy and Tuppence and the main characters here, is that Tommy and Tuppence are often out of work or changing jobs, and in this film Nick and Audrey's careers are central to their characters.
