Holly Madison was born in Astoria, Oregon. She has a younger sister named Stephanie; her brother Joseph died in a car crash in 2005. Her father's work in the maritime shipping industry led her family to travel. At age two, she lived with her family in Craig, Alaska, on Prince of Wales Island. When she was in middle school, her family returned to St. Helens, Oregon.

Holly Madison takes readers on a tour through the glitz and glitter of Las Vegas from the unique perspective of a Strip headliner.

Madison has unprecedented access to high-roller areas and mansion-in-the-sky suites that are closed to all but a privileged few. In a chapter illustrated by dozens of photos, she leads a virtual tour through the Hugh Hefner Sky Villa at the Palms, the Verona Suite (former home of Elvis Presley) at the Las Vegas Hilton and many more.

She also takes a look at the wacky attractions on the road from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, the peripatetic history of this former desert outpost, the evolution of the Vegas showgirl, the restaurants and clubs that pack the city and all of the activities and attractions that make the city so much fun. Holly provides behind-the-scenes looks at Peepshow and her TV reality show, Holly's World, and provides tips on looking fabulous in the desert, from what to pack to how to keep makeup from melting away in the extreme summer heat.

One thing which really would have complimented this entertaining book would have been a collection of las vegas, Clark county, and surrounding area maps depicting locations of both past and current hotels, casinos, and other points of interest. It would have been fun to track the growth of the strip by showing where some of the imploded hotels and casinos one stood, and which new venues now take their place. I have always enjoyed visiting this unique city, and found Holly Madison's descriptions and stories about las vegas to be refreshing and fun! As a constant reader, I hope to see more from Ms Madison in print as she tells the tales, both past and present about a city that never sleeps, yet dreams of a future limited only by ones imagination.

This was a really nice surprise. While I certainly could be wrong, I got the feeling that Holly actually wrote this book herself (or a great deal of it by herself) And that's a good thing! It reads just like you are listening to Holly tell you all about her life in Vegas, her favorite places to go, places to eat (from expensive to reasonably priced), and great places to shop. I would love to spend a few hours shopping and hanging out with Holly (even though I'm old enough be her mother)!

Holly put a lot of work into research for this book. I was not at all aware of the history of Vegas and learned a lot. Holly takes you on a roadtrip from LA to Vegas, giving you a lot of history along the way. Throughout the book, she contiues to provide the reader with the history of Vegas, complete with photos from different eras.

There are so many beautiful photos of Holly throughout the book as one would expect. I personally would have liked a little more reading and less photos, but my husband has no objections.

If you are buying this book for inside scoop on Holly's World and/or Peepshow, save your money. There is very little about either. Some photos from each but not much else. And really that's okay because afterall this is 'Holly Madison's Las Vegas'. Quite honestly it's refreshing to purchase a book from one of the former Girls Next Door that is NOT all about their past life at the mansion. Holly has clearly started over, built a whole new life for herself and moved on. I admire her for this.

Holly gives us a small peek into high roller suites that the average person can't get into. Fun and beautiful photos!

If you are planning a trip to Vegas, I wouldn't recommend this as your only guide, but Holly certainly offers some good suggestions that are worth jotting down before you go.

Holly Madison has done a very nice job creating a fun book that her fans will enjoy. Thanks Holly!

Since she lives there now, I love having Holly's reviews and recommendations for places to stay/eat/shop/get married in Vegas. However, the chapter on taking a road trip from LA to Vegas was totally wasted on me, and I suspect a lot of other readers. And although I haven't been there yet, I don't think she takes cost into account, which may affect which of her recommendations I am comfortable trying. If you love Holly and want to go to Vegas, it's a great book. If not, it may not be for you.

I bought this book because I am a big Holly fan, but you don't have to be a Holly fan to enjoy this book.!! This is a must have book for anyone planning a trip to Vegas, however, it's more than just a travel guide. It offers colorful insight through the eyes of the popular "Girl next Door". Loaded with fun things to see and do, she gives us glimps of places we didn't even know existed in and around Sin City. She shows us what it looks like in the high roller suites, she tells us where her favorite places are to eat, drink, party and have fun. She writes about the history of vegas from its beginning to the the era of the rat pack, Elvis, and the show girl!! There are 195 pages jam packed with beautiful color photos of all the unique and wonderful places that make Vegas such a fun and exciting place to be!!! I highly recommend this book!!!

This book is, first and foremost, a great alternative guide to Vegas. I've been to Sin City five times and have never seen or heard of many of the restaurants and sights that Holly lists! The chapters on a road trip from LA to Vegas, the history of Vegas and its showgirls, and the Fremont Street/downtown Vegas area are especially interesting. I also think that Holly did a great job with her restaurant recommendations--from the pricey to the budget, the fancy to the "if you just want a good burger or hot dog", she really listed something for everyone.

The only slightly negative thing about this book is that I really hoped for a good solid chapter on Vegas nightlife. I've been to over half a dozen of the clubs in Vegas and was really hoping for some insight/recommendations on where to go when, or at least where to go/avoid PERIOD. Other than a brief (maybe half a page) blurb, there was basically no nightlife information in this book and that was seriously disappointing.

Again, there is every reason in the world for this book to be called "Holly Madison's Las Vegas". She gives you insight that no one else can give you (i.e. the look at Peepshow) and having watched both The Girls Next Door and Holly's World, her personality and the things she enjoys really shine in this guide.

I love Holly and she was my favorite girl next door, but when I bought this, I must not have read the description well enough, because I thought it would be more about her life in Las Vegas, not a tour guide. I haven't made it all the way through the book, as I am not planning a trip anytime soon. That said, its got a lot of nice pictures in it.

She basically told us Ab her favorite food places and what the high roller unites looked like in each hotel. Nothing very exciting although it did make me very hungry. If u have been to Vegas more than twice u don't need to read this bc u most likely know a lot of this. Sorry holly I wanted to love ur book, I really did!!
A fun book, about Holly and Las Vegas, when she moved and started a new life, in Vegas!
