Great Parliamentary Scandals by Matthew Parris (2004-05-04). A former MP himself, Matthew Parris documents a range of scandals that have hit parliament down the year in this enjoyable volume. Each chapter focuses on one political figure of relates to a particular scandal, from Lord Chancellor Francis Bacon (accused of corruption in 1621) onwards. Parliamentarians appear to have landed themselves in many scrapes down the years, some of which are bizarre and definitely deserve chronicling. Some of the chapters are a little thin, especially the chapter on Disraeli which mainly seems to consist of innuendo about his sexuality.
