This was a great book! Actually, it IS a great book, because I am using it! It's not that hard to figure out how to build strength in our legs, but the upper body is a challenge. This book presents three levels of strength building that targets that area, with easy to follow photo examples. The first chapters give the reader plenty of reasons why we need to do this; and don't most of us need a nudge? As a woman whose biceps blow in the wind, I'm looking forward to not just firming up, but becoming stronger. I plan to give it to all my friends of "a certain age."

Agless Beauty and Timeless Strength (a woman's guide to building upper body strength without special equipment), This book is very good for anyone who wants to and is willing to practice at home. The book is perfect for me because I do not have a good place to walk in my neighborhood and there is something wrong about driving 5 miles to a gym to exercise. The book has a lot of information about upper body strength which I also need because I have had two back operations and need to strengthen my core muscles.

This book starts with lots of info about a variety of illnesses that can benefit from strength training. While I was fascinated by the osteo stuff given that my mother has just been diagnosed with it, selfishly I found trawling through the rest a bit boring. The workouts are clearly explained and grouped in levels geared to your level of ability. I recommend it and urged my mother to get it and consider strength training after speaking to her doctor.

I didn't realize that body weight exercises were so beneficial. I definitely will continue my exercise routines - yoga and walking. I will add these for variety and strengthen. Great book!

Great book for new yoga ers and people who need refreashers. Pictures are very helpful. Easy to read. Definations of poses very helpful.
Lucky me, Howard Van Es is my yoga teacher. I wish I could go to class every day. Since that is not possible, I was thrilled when Ageless Beauty & Timeless Strength came out. Now I can practice at home and when I am out of town. Since adding yoga to my exercise routine, I have lost 25 pounds, gained strength and flexibility. Best of all, my rheumatoid arthritis has gone into remission. I highly recommend Ageless Beauty & Timeless Strength.
