I took a TM (Transcendental Meditation) course in 1976 - I have read and studied about many other forms of meditation, along with my practice of TM for many years. I took an Eastern Religion course when I was in my 30's. Now in my 70th year, I enjoy reading books well written. This is an excellent book - I highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in meditation - not specificially TM. It is a practical book - and easy to absorb.
Love the Dummies'series. One book is better than another. Meditation is great to relieve stress and this book truly addresses the Cruz of the idea. It is informative and quite simple to follow. Instructions are great. Even. "Dummy" can follow them!:)
I listen to the audio book of this mini book almost every night. It helps to lull me to sleep. I wake up refreshed. I started the audio book out of desperation for a pain relief from a bad headache at night time.
This mini edition touches upon all areas of beginner meditation that one might be curious on and need some clarification or information about. I myself have been meditating for about a year now, but never, until recently, sought out professional advice on how to meditate, or the benefits of meditation. I thoroughly enjoyed this book while receiving valuable information on the topic I was seeking, which I found very important. I feel this mini version went over enough points that I do not have to purchase the full version. All in all this is a very informative, well put together book.
This is a shortened version of the full length book. I think that some authors and publishers are so eager to make some extra profit by offering quick reads for Ereaders that the quality suffers. This book ends with a section on stretching to prepare for sitting and meditating; but does not follow up with the meditation! Meditation is, of course, the main subject of the book but shouldn't he have put a summary after the part on stretching?
This book is in perfect condition. I would buy from this seller again.
