I was given its sister book Treat your Own Kneck. Some 40 years ago By a hospital having been put in traction. The treatment in the book is logical and it work. Later I had trouble with my back. From my previous experience I got Treat your own back. The content advice eased my problem. I have since lent it to many friends or recommended it.

I abused my spine for many years-slouching,not sitting down the right way,
lifting things up-the WRONG WAY, etc. I started to suffer from a herniated disc.
That is where the "gel" in between the vertabrae starts to poke out and it causes
ALOT OF PAIN.
My sister-who had the same affliction-told me about this book and the exercises in the book.
I must say,after reading it carefully and following the exercises,after a few months I did heal
my spine-the gel went back in and now,two years later-I am fine. BUT,I also learned the
important lesson of taking care of my back-lifting, bending, etc.

This book has PHOTOS of people actually doing the exercises step by step.
This is valuable to the reader/learner. It also shows the correct way to lift objects and sit
-all illustrated with excellent photographs. I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS FOR ANYONE
SUFFERING FROM BACK PAIN. do not give up!--learn from this book-I did.

I have not finished reading this book. I read enough to do the suggested sleeping positions, but found them to be uncomfortable. Old habits die hard.

This book was very helpful for both my husband and myself. We have used it over and over to help keep our backs from hurting and going out of place. The stretches are very helpful. My hip was bothering me and I have used the stretches to help keep my lower back and hip in place.
