More than a book about early motherhood, Homing Instincts is. .This book is also about so much more than pregnancy and motherhood.

More than a book about early motherhood, Homing Instincts is about big questions like: How do we make meaning of our lives? How do we teach ourselves to be patient? How do we learn to inhabit the moment, fully and mindfully? . In some way, reading Homing Instincts made it clearer to me that having a baby is not for me, but I have also formed a new-found respect for child-bearing. It's hard to describe it, but I'd say it's also about human nature and what it feels to truly appreciate life and its everyday moments.

And very much a departure from the daily reality of motherhood in 2019, when many of us are experiencing existential dread over how climate change will affect our children and are all too aware of the scourge of inequality that shapes their lives. We Live for the We: The Political Power of Black Motherhood, by Dani McClain, quotes the activist Trina Greene Brown, saying, People who are raising kids who were meant to survive have a lot to learn from us. Ms. Brown continued: We can teach resilience. We can instill pride.

The Golden State anchors Daphne’s journey in the visceral and material realities of motherhood. Daphne’s mind is cluttered and crowded with feeling. She ricochets between happiness and contentment, intense anxiety, and grief, all within the space of a minute; when she buckles her child into a car seat, she also thinks about all the ways she is doing it incorrectly. When she gives Honey a zerbert, she simultaneously feels the loss that is built into all of her loving gestures.

I pull out a book as I always do. After five minutes, I can’t stand it anymore and lean toward hi. I wonder what Harrison will say when he introduces me. In this group, there seems to be a tendency toward honesty that worries me. I only have one more question. After five minutes, I can’t stand it anymore and lean toward him. I’m Emily, by the way. I know you’re Lucas, but maybe you don’t know my name, so there you have i.

Auditions are happening in the small theater beside the music room where the choir practices after school. Through the wall, I can hear a boy and girl singing a duet with a piano. Through the wall, I can hear a boy and girl singing a duet with a piano ve song, but they stop so much it’s hard to tell. The auditions don’t officially start until 3:15, so I spread out the scenes I’ve xeroxed and the sign-up sheet for people to write their name and contact info

WOW! This is an amazing story of how a woman can go through some extremely difficult times in life yet still get through it with the help of Jesus Christ. I can imagine many women giving up after just going through ONE of her stories yet she continued to believe that God had a plan for her life and He wouldn't put her through more than she could handle. Very inspirational story. Loved the book!

I loved this book! As a christian parent trying to cope with all the complex feelings of post pardum and how God fits into it all, I found this book both inspiring and uplifting. This book helped me figure out how God fits into it all. This book is wonderfully spiritual without being "preachy".
