We know these people, or at least we thought we did. Now we understand a lot more about them and appreciate them even more. Larry & Beth have opened up a world that is really scary to many people and they opened it up in such a revealing way. Our hats off to them. This is the first book that I'm seen my wife read cover to cover and be really interested in. If you are close to or know anyone who has suffered from TBI, then get this book. It will tell you a lot. This should be a handout in every trauma facility.

This book really helped me better understand my son who suffers a TBI, It also has helped us understand why we feel we are in a revolving door going nowhere. The medical community is woefully lacking in understanding and even in denial. My son and I have found this to be very true. As disturbing as this knowledge is, it was also a comfort to learn that we are not the only ones. A brain injury is unique to each individual and not like a broken arm that needs a cast to heal. They keep reminding us to never give up. We won't and are still searching for qualified help.

This book is very well written for those with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) as well as family members. I was in a motor vehicle accident June 2009 and am still recovering from TBI. This book was of great value to me. I wish I had had it to read a year ago. I would have had strategies sooner that would have assisted in my recovery. I highly recommend this book for those suffering from brain injury as well as their family members.

Had to stop halfway though, as I needed time to process the story written here, will finish it when I get past the sadness, that comes from their story.

Very informative and eye-opening! I got it to get an idea of what TBI patients have to deal with and how it could affect their interaction with a service dog and it answered many of my questions. The idea about the notebook and detailed lists will be very helpful as a dog will be a lot to integrate into their lives.
It was amazing how many of the stories (from Larry and Beth) I could relate to! My father had a brain aneurysm (resulting in 9 brain surgeries) almost 9 months ago and this book provided so much insight!
