Where Animals Help People. Second, I want to explain my Foundation and its mission of helping with depression. Third, I want to tell about my life, and explain the signs of depression and how people can help others. Presently, Ruth and I live a peaceful life, three-hundred feet behind the Veterinary hospital that I created. Everyday I drive those eight miles to the farm where animals help people.

James Marshall was a typical farm boy with a passion for animals. Depressive illness and suicide attempts were not imaginable during the first forty-three years of life. But now the cycle of his life would be complete. Going on to Cornell to become a Veterinarian was a dream that came true. Life was great, newly married, the starting of a family, and the building of his own practice. He planned to end his life in the very room that he was born in fifty-two years earlier, a victim of depression. Miraculously he survived a near-fatal gunshot, and finally overcame the depressive illness that clouded his life for twenty-three years.

Life was great, newly married, the starting of a family, and the building of his own practice. What more could he want?

Depressive illness and suicide attempts were not imaginable during the first forty-three years of life. But now the cycle of his life would be complete. He planned to end his life in the very room that he was born in fifty-two years earlier, a victim of depression.

Miraculously he survived a near-fatal gunshot, and finally overcame the depressive illness that clouded his life for twenty-three years.

After finding a cure and renewed energy, Dr. Marshall created the Jim Marshall Farms Foundation, Inc., a place of refuge where those suffering can get away from their troubles and be free. Everyone is greeted with a friendly smile, and the unconditional love that animals provide.

Now, more than ever, Dr. Marshall would like to share his story in hopes to help others and prevent the horrible choices that depressed individuals make.

I was given a copy by Jim Marshall after meeting with him. I thought it might be self-promotional, but I found it interesting, moving, and memorable, and I looked forward to reading it whenever I had time. It is an easily-read biography that clearly and simply describes the abyss into which he descended, as well as his long, slow climb out, and also offers hope and an expression of gratitude. I am a therapist and am buying many copies to give to my depressed clients who want to know there is hope.

I had found a copy of this wounderful book on my In Law's bookshelf. That you started during your visit to the Caymen's with them. And they suggested that I read it.

As someone who unfortunetly has been stuck in this world of suicidal depression since I was a pre- teen ( I am now in my mid-40's). I cannot thank you enough. Although I am still in the misdt of it, how you explain it all is much better put then I ever could.

From the bottom of my heart. Thank you.
