The Power of Ideas was a well written textbook with a lot of philosophical examples, public figures and unfamiliar vocabulary. The book makes you feel more studious if anything; while reading through the book for my philosophy course there was many highlighted boxes with famous philosophers and their ideas which helped me understand what I was reading a little better.

I should have paid more attention to the photo. This is an "Indian Edition," which means its printed on super cheap newspaper quality paper, with ink that bleeds through. Really diminishes the pleasure of reading it. I may try to return it.
Got this for a college course and was excited to read it, but the information just seemed so brief on some subjects that I was really disappointed and it made it kind of difficult to get enough info. to cite in my papers.
Bought this textbook for school, but I must say that the way it is written it could clearly be a book for any type of reading, not just for school. Easy to understand, great explanations/examples of metaphysics and philosophical ideas. If you are even remotely interested in philosophy and really want to understand it, this book will help you dive right in and give you a great lesson! It will definitely make you think and use your brain like you've never used it before... hands down a book to keep on the shelf!
One of my first philosophy textbooks. I wish I would have purchased it.
Ahh, its a good reading...if your into history... I read the first couple chapters for college, but didnt open it after that... I got a B in the course.
Excellent overview/intro to the topic. Complicated concepts explained in simple, clear language. If you are trying to learn a little bit about philosophy on your own this book is an excellent start.
Great text for class.
Great read - made more sense of things for me.
