Enid Blyton - The Adventures of the Wishing-Chair. When the first stories of the Wishing-Chair came to an end in Sunny Stories you were so sad that you wrote hundreds of letters to me, begging me to put all the tales into one big book for you, so that you might read them over again. So I did, and here they are! Since then you have had another Sunny Stories serial about Peter, Mollie and Chinky, and I have put this into a big book for you, too. It is called The Wishing-Chair Again. You will be glad to meet your old friends once more and go with them on their adventures

It's no Faraway Tree book, but the Adventures of the Wishing Chair is a delightful read and one which parents will enjoy just as much as children. In it, two children (Mollie and Peter) discover a magical wishing chair in a mysterious antiques shop - it has the ability to grow wings and fly, and it does so to take them home from the shop. I have read a lot of Enid Blyton books including: The famous five, the folk of the faraway tree, the find-outers, the secret seven, christmas treats and then, The wishing chair. The thing I like about Blyton is she writes in a old-fashioned way. All her stories are magical and impressive!

The children are free to come and go, but they have to leave before the land "moves on" or they will be stuck there until the hole comes back and they can get down the ladder at the top of the tree.

Enid Blyton's books often mirrored the fantasies of younger children. Examples of this type are the Wishing-Chair books and The Faraway Tree. Alternatively, in many of her short stories, toys are shown to come alive when humans are not around. Controversies and revisions.

In Blyton's final book about the girls at Malory Towers, Darrell becomes head girl. Unfortunately not all the girls are as responsible as she is and in her last term Darrell sees many changes in her old school friends.

Their playroom was built right at the bottom of the garden, and it was quite safe for their friend, Chinky, the pixie, to live there, for no one ever went to the garden playroom except themselves t now the painters would be there for a week. How tiresome! It’s a good thing it’s summer-time, Chinky, so that you can live in the garden for a bit, said Mollie. Oh, don’t worry about me, said Chinky. I’ve a nice cosy place in the hollow of an oak tree. It’s the chair I’m thinking about. Where shall we keep that? We can’t have it flying about whilst the painters are there.

The Wishing-Chair takes them on some wonderful adventures - to a giant's castle to rescue a new pixie friend, to. .

My future son-in-law remarked that he'd read this book as a child in his native India and that it was his favorite. I decided to surprise him with the book. It is a fun story of a brother and sister who go to a quaint shop to buy a birthday gift for their mother. Since they only have a small amount of money they decide to explore this shop for the perfect gift. Immediately upon entering you know this is a magical shop. They end up sitting on a chair that takes them away on a flight and the beginning of many days of fun adventures.

Looks like a wonderful children's book of stories, though I was not familiar with the author before ordering. i came across Enid Blytons name in another book I was reading. Book is a used version and the covers show wear but not terribly. I think my granddaughter will love the imaginative stories
and pictures.

My eight year old daughter couldn't put this book down. She loved it so much she read the entire book in one sitting. Enid Blyton is one of the greatest children's authors in the world. She has a way with fantasy that sparks the imagination of the reader, old or young. Her correct use of grammar and syntax is refreshing. She never dumbs down her language. Blyton's books should be required reading in every schoolroom in America.
I do love, love this book. every home with kids should have it! and you should look up Enid Blyton for her other books. they re great
