Lawrence Joseph Stone was born in Washington in 1912. He graduated from Cornell University in 1934 and received a doctorate at Columbia in 1937. Surviving are his wife, the former Jeannette Galambos, three daughters, Deborah Netsong Susannah Eldridge and Miriam Leavitt; a sister, Maysie Stoneand three grandchildren.

For example, parental consent is required for the treatment of children with asthma using standby salbutamol inhalers in schools. These restrictions have yet to be tested in court.
