Dr. Ron Larson is a professor of Mathematics at The Pennsylvania State University, where he has taught since 1970. He is considered the pioneer of using multimedia to enhance the learning of Mathematics, having authored over 30 software titles since 1990.

This has been a great book to use for home schooling Algebra 1. Each chapter really gives a full introduction to the new concept, many detailed explanations and examples on how to work the problems, and many exercises to practice. My daughter, who doesn't really like math much, was able to read the chapters herself and comlete the exercises with very little of my assistance.

Ron Larson received his PhD in mathematics from the University of Colorado in 1970. At that time he accepted a position with Penn State University, and he currently holds the rank of professor of mathematics at the University. Dr. Larson is the lead author of more than two dozen mathematics textbooks that range from sixth grade through calculus levels. Betsy Farber received her Bachelor's degree in mathematics form Penn State University and Master's degree in mathematics from the College of New Jersey.

Designed for first-year developmental math students who need support in beginning algebra, Elementary Algebra, 4/e, retains the hallmark features for which the Larson team is known: abundant, high-quality applications; the use of real data; the integration of visualization (figures and graphs) throughout; and extensive opportunities for self-assessment (mid-chapter quizzes, review exercises, tests, and cumulative tests). In developing supportive new features for the Fourth Edition, the authors' goal is for students to come away from the class with a firm understanding of algebra and how it functions as a modern modeling language.

Though I do like to discuss each chapter with her to make sure she really grasped the concepts.

Did skip around a bit when an earlier chapter (7?) started on linear equations and we weren't ready for that.

This is a good text book, but I feel that it could do a better job of explaining some of the processes of solving equations, and could provide more detailed examples. I've found myself with questions several times, and the book wasn't really able to provide me with concise answers on the issues I was having. It does have a good variety of practice exercises though, with an answer section in the back for all of the odd numbered practice exercises.

Easy to read and understand. Great study tips. answers to all mid chapter and chapter tests in the back of the bok. Also there is a cumulative review at the end of each section that are very helpful.

It was in good shape no tears or anything and also no writing in the book the corners were a little torn up but other than that it was perfect and definitely what i was expecting to get
had stickers on the outside but no tears anywhere on it or in it and no markings on the pages
