Roshan L. Sharma was born in Punjab, India in 1927. He came over to the United States in 1949 for graduate studies

Roshan L. The author received his B. A. (Physics and Math) with a minor in English literature from Punjab University in 1948. In literature his interests were in romantic poetry and Victorian novels of Galsworthy. He came over to the United States in 1949 for graduate studies. He studied fine art and physics at UCLA for 4 years, and physics at USC for 2 years obtaining MS from the latter in 1955.

The new book also has 5 additional chapters dealing with newer technologies such as PCS, AIN, Backbone Networks etc. The new book maintains the older book's strength as both a textbook and guidebook for networking specialists. Recently Viewed and Featured. Cubical Homotopy Theory.

Essentially, the topology design of a communication network determines the connections between the communication nodes. The following assumptions are used throughout this chapter:, We consider wired networks, in particular wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) networks, which use optical fibers. Most CPS communication networks use existing design paradigms of data communication networks, or heuristic design methodologies. Our main goal is to design the network topology taking into consideration the physical dynamics.

In mathematics, topology (from the Greek τόπος, 'place', and λόγος, 'study') is concerned with the properties of a geometric object that are preserved under continuous deformations, such as stretching, twisting, crumpling and bend.

In mathematics, topology (from the Greek τόπος, 'place', and λόγος, 'study') is concerned with the properties of a geometric object that are preserved under continuous deformations, such as stretching, twisting, crumpling and bending, but not tearing or gluing. A topological space is a set endowed with a structure, called a topology, which allows defining continuous deformation of subspaces, and, more generally, all kinds of continuity.

For a network with a constant topological structure, its function within a cell may still be tuned by changing the number of instances of a particular component (. It took us just 3 minutes to fold the flat disc into the three-dimensional saddle. .

Building an optimized network topology helps surpass the prevalent scalability and capacity problems. Topology Control in Wireless Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks makes the case for topology control and provides an exhaustive coverage of TC techniques in wireless ad hoc and sensor networks, considering both stationary networks, to which most of the existing solutions are tailored, and mobile networks. Defines topology control and explains its necessity, considering both stationary and mobile networks.

The author stresses the importance of network topology. It is the soul of the network. A statement of work (SOW) for the design of any large network must define the network topology first. Hardware is not important at early stages of design. The book then compares several topologies for performance and cost. The best topology forms the basis of a SOW. The book also presents a network design tool that synthesizes an optimum network in an iterative manner. The tool runs on a MAC or a PC.
