By then it was nearly six-thirty. Thanking heaven for whoever invented daylight savings time, Molly noted gratefully that the sun was only now beginning to sink olor that she would always think of as Cuspian gold. Shock and fear made the next few minutes rather a blur. Thinking back on it all later, Molly would only hazily remember getting out of the car, or following Jackson across the bluff to where he thought the cave might be. It had been years since he’d played there, and the bluff was notched with a dozen potential caves.

The Central New York Romance Writers, for teaching me so much. The wonderful ladies at Harlequin who had a hand in bringing this book to life-Kathleen Scheibling, who gave so generously of her time, insights and advocacy; Wanda Ottewell, who was willing to take a chance on a too-short manuscript by an unknown author; and Piya Campana, who has been the picture of grace and wisdom while I do the newbie dance. She was no longer that terrified eighteen-year-old who had come begging for a job at the camp that had been the only constant in a life spent eluding landlords and bill collectors.

To Be a Mother: Single Father (Harlequin Superromance No. 1233). This very satisfying story is not only great romance; it is also very informative about the unique world of relationships between twins. Rebecca Winters possesses a near unique ability to combine honorable, moral, and strong protagonists with a fascinating, interesting, and well developed story line that keeps the reader totally involved and the pages turning. I appreciate the fact that her skill allows her to write meaningful romance and still keep the bedroom scenes behind the bedroom door.

Molly Lorring, Beaumont Forrest and his brother Jackson all grew up together in a small town called Demery, South Carolina. As they grew up though Molly and Beau became romantically involved while Molly and Jackson remained friends.

The night of Molly's senior prom changes everything though. Beau had been pressuring her, but she did not want to give in to him. Beau is mad, leaves her and she comes back and makes love to whom she thinks is Beau. Beau comes back later and is drunk, so Jackson gets in the car with him and Beau drives into a tree and dies.

10 years later Molly and her daughter Liza return to Demery because Molly was hired by Beau and Jacksons Aunt to help landscape the house they live in.

While in Demery Molly starts to have feeling for Jackson, but he cannot forgive himself for lying to her the night they concieved Liza. There is also the curious situation of a little boy named Tommy.

Tommy is a school mate of Liza's who becomes her friend, he looks a lot like a young version of Beau and Jackson and Jackson spends a considerable amount of time with both him and his mother. This leads Molly to think that Jackson is the boys father.

Who is the father of Tommy? What happens between Molly and Jackson? Read The Real Father

This should have been called "The Sins of the Twins".

I really regret reading this. It's a convoluted, tawdry mess and proof that young teen age girls and boys are incredibly stupid in their own incredibly stupid ways.

SPOILER

Ten years ago the h was in love with a manipulative Richie Rich BMOC (big-man -on-campus for those that are acronymly challenged), while his twin was her platonic and pining best friend although known as a heck raiser in town. BMOC was the good twin while BF was the bad one, or were they? Afraid of sex, the h puts off BMOC until he plays her one last time saying she needs to find someone else. Desperate to hang on to her boyfriend she runs to him and clumsily tries to seduce him. That's always fun to read as a woman, that a young woman has been manipulated into sex. Joke was on the BMOC though. No spoilers, but she had sex with the good twin. Later the evil twin dies in a car crash.

Present day, the h is back in town with her 9 yo daughter and encounters the H and others. The flashy piece from High School has a young son that looks just like the H, and the h and everyone assumes the boy is his. No, it's not. It's the dead twin's son. He used to pretend to be the good twin so he could have sex with the bad girl who was smart enough to figure out which twin she was sleeping with. Unlike the h who is dumber than dirt, doesn't knows she had sex with the nice one, and idolizes the bad twin from beyond the crypt.

I don't believe women should bleed families dry because they have children, but neither girl, both single teen mothers, bothered to tell the wealthy and connected family that the born some their spawn. You might think that a grieving mother, aunt, brother (don't recall a father) might want to know about the next generation of the golden boy.

So, we have two plot moppets that have been deprived of fathers or at least their heritage. Plus two girls that were duped for different reasons by twin brothers: one for sex and the other into having sex because he loved the heroine. The hero goes to look for the love of his life, but doesn't know about the baby supposedly. However, when he sees them again he doesn't say anything for ever. END SPOLER

I am tempted to give it one star, but I know there are some poor souls that like this kind of angst. Plus the interaction between the cousins, the son of the bad girl and the daughter of the h, and the fantasy world is kind of sweet. A little bit like Terabithia without the dead kids.
