In true older books format...hero, Milos, goes to see Helen to give her a message from her father. They end up in bed. She was only 17, not much older. She finds out he is married and leaves. Now almost 14 years later she goes to see her father and meets Milos. She also has a daughter and is now a widow. Will the secrets of the past become clear? This is a typical 90's type of story where the modern times are not used. So it is a little off in some types of telling. I enjoy reading Anne Mather's stories and will look for more by her at a later date.

I didn't like this book, I guess because she waited until her daughter was a teenager, and she was middle aged already. Sorry just not very romantic or I should say I didn't find it very romantic. I'm sure someone out there will find it romantic but not me. Can't really recommend it.

i can forgive anne mather for writing a spineless heroine in the 70's and 80's, but she wrote this novel in 2005 and her heroine, helen, is still as spineless. she can't control her daughter, she lets her stepmother to antagonize her, she stammers and pauses when confronted. the only time she answers back is with the hero because it's a prerequisite for a category romance to have exchanges like this. and i can't understand why the hero, milos, (SPOILER ALERT!!!) waited quite some time before confronting helen about their child! i can see the manipulating hand of the author as i read this. and where is the romance??? not romantic at all.

FROM BACK COVER:

When passion is stronger than pride...

Helen Shaw's relaxing vacation on the stunning

island of Santos is ruined when she steps off the

ferry and sees Greek tycoon Milos Stephanides.

Years before they had a scorching affair, until,

discovering Milos had been untruthful, Helen

left Him.

Now Helen has a secret that she is desperate to

keep from Milos. She tries to keep her distance,

but the powerful attraction between them

continues to steadily build under the heat of the

Greek sun.....

This book was enjoyable to read, Milos the hero, was laid back, his arragance was not overbearing and I really like the way he came across...

Helen was also a strong character who stands up for herself when the need arises...

Milos and Helen met years previously in England, when Helen's estranged father ask him to look her up to check on her well being. Helen started dating Milos behind her mother's back. She neglected to tell Milos her true age. They had a hot affair and parted ways after she thaught Milos was dishonest with her...

Present day finds Helen and Milos on the Greek island of Santos, dealing with the repercussions of their past and the realities of their present. Read how these two was able to come together and mend fences, not only between themselves but also with members of their extended families. After all the time that has passed, the chemistry between Milos and Helen was still very much apparent. Enjoy!!!

two repulsive things about this story. Firstly, Milos is a married man when he stalks Helen under false pretences, while she is only 17yrs and still at school, and seduces her. What a creepy setting to base a romance.

Secondly, Helen is just as spineless and stupid at 32yrs with a 14 yr old teenager as she was at 17yrs. I can't fathom a 32yr old woman with a 14yr old daughter being as shallow, whiny, fearful, evasive and dippy as Helen.

There isn't ONE likeable person in the whole novel. Helen's father Sam is a weak wimp making zip difference to the novel, step-mother Maya is a wasp, and panting after cousin Milos. Please put me out of my misery - a very stupid read indeed.
