I usually love to read Julie Miller; but this title fell just a little short, the storyline and characters didn't draw this reader in. Although I have every intention of continuing "The Precinct; Botherhood of the Badge" series.

This book is a kickass read here's what Its about;
It's about a woman named Lisa Parrish and she had witnessed the murder of John Kincaid (a retired police officer), but she has amnesia and can only remember bits and pieces of the murder. She is being assisted by a hypnotist to help her remember who she seen.

John Kincaid has four sons who are also police officers. The youngest is Holden, who is on the SWAT team as a sniper. He is obsessed with finding his father's killer but because of conflict of interest, the sons are not allowed involved in the investigation. When he finds out that Lisa's whereabouts have been compromised, he takes personal custody of her.

This book is packed with action, shooting, suspense and romance. A great story. Highly recommended.

Thanks Julie Miller for this surprise

love Laura

This is the third book in the Kincaid brothers mini-series by Julie Miller. Reading the other two first is really important to understand all of what's going on here.

Holden is easily my favorite of the Kincaid brothers. He's a SWAT team sniper and a bigtime charmer. I also found him to kind be a bit of a hothead. When he meets Liza Parrish, the key witness in his father's murder, he's immediately drawn to her. At first it's because he believes she holds the key to bringing his father's murderer to justice, but he quickly realizes it's because of the chemistry they have together. Liza is a tough-talking, dog-loving vet student, and I liked her immediately. She's already dealt with enough tragedy in her life, and witnessing part of John Kincaid's murder gave her amnesia. She wants to remember, especially after becoming involved with Holden. I really enjoyed their back-and-forth banter, though the "Romeo and Juliet" bit did get old, considering their families weren't enemies. The metaphor just doesn't fit, and it just seemed like a huge stretch for the writer. Honestly, as much as it's referenced is what prevented me from giving this 5 stars. After the second reference, I just rolled my eyes.

I liked that we got to see what Holden actually does in his own job, something that, in my opinion, was lacking in the first two books in this mini-series. Yes, the brothers are cops, but I was glad to finally see one of them actually focusing on his own job - a SWAT team sniper - rather than chasing leads in their father's case. I also liked that Liza wasn't much of a damsel in distress. She was equally as tough in taking care of herself and her man.

The overall plot of the mini-series is winding down in this book, and if you can't figure out who's behind it all by now, then you should re-read the others. It's fairly obvious, though I don't count that as a fault of the author. If she was going for more mystery, she shouldn't give us those little vignettes from the perpetrator's perspective. That being said, this is probably my favorite so far, just based on the main characters involved and the bigger involvement of Detective Kevin Grove, who I suspect is fairly great. Definitely a must-read!
