User reviews
Although published in November 2005, this a reissue of a book published in 1988, but it actually reads more like a book written in the 1950s! In 1988 did a couple in their 20s call each other "darling" five or six times on one page? And even in 1988 it seems dated that the bridesmaids were going to walk down the aisle wearing gold-mesh-and-pearl snoods and crinolines! If things like that don't bother you and you want to read a light story, buy this book, otherwise, save your money!
From the back cover:

The perfect wedding...almost...

When Elizabeth Chatham met her new boss, department-store owner Nicholas Lancaster, she completely fell for him. But she never imagined that after a whirlwind courtship, Nick would be on bended knee proposing to her. It was the stuff of a Christams fairy tale...

The Nick and Elizabeth decided to hold their wedding in Elizabeth's hometown of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and their dream of an idyllic Christmas wedding began to turn into a disaster. Elizabeth's family wanted a lively, down-home, country-style party with all their friends and relatives. Nick's family, on the other hand, pushed for a stately affair of quiet elegance. And all Elizabeth really wanted was the chance to say "I do." Suddenly the idea of eloping looked better and better!

And my review:

This is a reissue story. It also appeared in Harlequin's Christmas Celebration collection. I didn't much like the story then, and I'm annoyed that I was tricked into buying it again in a new package, so my feelings toward it haven't been improved. Here's my original review reposted here for your convenience:

I actually enjoyed this book - at first. The romance between the characters was really sweet, and there were many funny moments as they fell in love. But then I started to get disgusted. Elizabeth and Nicolas were such wimps when it came to their families! They let them take over everything to do with their wedding. Yes, you want to keep the peace, but you have to draw the line when your parents and in-laws are walking all over you, otherwise, they'll do it forever and try to run your marriage as well! I just wanted to shake them both and tell them to stand up for themselves. I did finish this story, but the ending left me with a bad aftertaste - they don't go on the honeymoon to New York city that their families wanted, but instead of standing up to them and saying that they've picked their own honeymoon destination, they lie and pretend that they're in New York so that no one gets mad at them. Oh yeah, like the world will end if you upset mommy! Plus, they call their parents every night and dutifully "report in". On their honeymoon!*Insert Indiana Jones-style whipping sound here* What are you, eight-year-old kids at summer camp? Act like grownups and get some backbone!

Cringe-worthy fashions and overuse of the word "darling" I can overlook. Wimpy heros and heroines I cannot. Not recommended.
