That's because the artwork done for both was by the artist Kenny Scharf.

FRED SCHNEIDER-JUST FRED: After his delirious dance-oriented debut FRED SCHNEIDER & THE SHAKE SOCIETY (with its "shoulda been" party anthem MONSTER IN MY PANTS), the quirky B-52'S front man dialed back the kitsch and went in a harder rock direction for this fractured follow up.

The Sinners from Mitar
Following the passing of one of the B-52's primary band members, Ricky Wilson, there was a period of uncertainty regarding whether the group would continue to perform and record any other albums. During that period of uncertainty (between the end of 1985 and 1989), B-52's front man Fred Schneider published a book containing about 76 of his various poems and other writings that he had written up to that time. Entitled "Fred Schneider and other Unrelated Works", the short book (containing less than 100 pages) is subdivided into seven sections:
1. This first untitled section contains a loosely organized set of 16 poems that include "Purple, Purple, Purple", "There's a Moon in the Sky", "Flamingo 1", "Flamingo 2", "Love Poem 1", "Love Poem 2" and "The Glaciated Heart".
2. Entitled "The Astor Canasta Crowd and The Tawny D'Orso Bunch", this section features nine poems about the characters Astor Canasta or Tawny D'Orso.
3. Entitled "Giggles the Skeleton and Friends", this section features seven poems featuring the character "Giggles the Skeleton" and includes the poems "Giggles Vs. Death", "Giggles and Taffy" and "Skeletons".
4. Entitled "And the Cows We Often Ignore", this section features four poems primarily about cows: "Cows", "Cows 2", "The Cows Barked" and "Wistful".
5. Entitled "Everyone Else and Other Subjects That Hold a Hand Mirror up to Reality", this lengthy section features 27 different poems that go from one sentence to multiple pages and not all of them are titled.
6. Entitled "Short Plays and Short and Shorter Stories, Etc.", this section contains five writings, including "Cindy Goes to Mars" (a possible reference to Cindy Wilson) and the four-page "Heifertiti or a Cow Transfigured" (about a Wisconsin cow that travels to India).
7. Entitled "Olde Nursery Rhymes I Wrote Ages Ago", this final three-page section contains eight poems. The first seven untitled ones are based upon well-known Mother Hubbard nursery rhymes; but the last, which is titled "Sequence 1", compares a dog biting a mailman with former Pres. Ronald Reagan biting former Soviet Premier Gorbachev.
People familiar with the under appreciated 1986 B-52's album "Bouncing Off the Satellites", which was Ricky Wilson's last album with the B-52's, will recognize the similarity in artwork between it and the artwork done in "Fred Schneider and Other Unrelated Works". That's because the artwork done for both was by the artist Kenny Scharf. Overall, I rate "Fred Schneider and other Unrelated Works" with 5 out of 5 stars. Not everyone who reads the assorted poems and writings within its pages will like it, but any diehard B-52's fan will no doubt appreciate Fred's wit and humor.
