John Hubbard Tweedy (November 9, 1814 – November 12, 1891) was a delegate to the United States Congress from Wisconsin Territory from March 1847 to May 1848 being elected from the Whig Party. He was also the Whig Party nominee in first Wisconsin gubernatorial election, where he lost to Nelson Dewey. Tweedy was born in Danbury, Connecticut. He graduated from Yale University in 1834, where he was a member of the secret society Skull and Bones.

In 1994, Tweedy formed Wilco with John Stirratt, Max Johnston, and Ken Coomer. Tweedy has also participated in a number of side groups including Golden Smog and Loose Fur, published a book of poems, and released a DVD of solo performances. Wilco has released ten albums and found commercial success with their albums Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, A Ghost Is Born, Sky Blue Sky and Wilco. He was originally influenced by punk and country music, but has later reflected more experimental themes in his music. Tweedy singing with Wilco in 2007.
