Janet Trotter's books are, without exception, very informative and yet extremely enjoyable, especially for anyone who has some knowledge of Tyneside. History is not merely being used as a cloak with which to cover a story of personal relationships, but is integrated into the story to show that these two phenomena are frequently closely inter-related. I sincerely hope that all her novels will be made available to Kindle reaers.

Finished this great read a few days ago and was so sorry that it ended. Janet brings her characters alive and one can feel the emotions the interesting characters are feeling. How misunderstandings can damage lives for ever and spoken words that hurt and can't be taken back. An excellent read.

A talented writer, characters and settings well defined. Would have enjoyed it much more if it had been a little lighter on social causes. Not for casual entertainment.

I have loved all of the books I have read of hers. Her stories and her characters are so believable. And I have also learned so much about the history of the English people in times of war.
