The Knowledge of Good and Evil is not a light read and I hesitate to recommend it to everyone. Glenn Kleier created a fantastic blend: a thriller full of race against time, a mystery hidden in time, a journey around the world and beyond mortal realm

The Knowledge of Good and Evil is not a light read and I hesitate to recommend it to everyone. However, it is a book close to my heart. You may say, it all started with Dan Brown, but my husband and I, we love religious thrillers be that books or movies. Glenn Kleier created a fantastic blend: a thriller full of race against time, a mystery hidden in time, a journey around the world and beyond mortal realm.

an enchanting interlude that goes where no book has before. Inspired by a true story: On December 4, 1968, theologian Father Louis Merton visited the ancient Dead City of Polonnaruwa, Ceylon, entered the Cave of the Spirits of Knowledge, and experienced a vision. It's claimed he found a backdoor to the afterlife

THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD & EVIL     Ian Baringer may have stumbled upon the greatest discovery of all time. Or possibly, the greatest curse . . .     As a child, Ian lost his parents in a horrific accident, seeing them give their lives to save his. He never fully recovered, burying pangs of guilt, clinging to religion's promise that someday he'd see his parents again.           But now his demons have resurfaced. Despite the help of Angela Weber, the brilliant psychologist who loves him, he's in the grip of an obsession. He no longer trusts in an afterlife, he must know for certain if the soul survives death.     And incredibly, he may have found a way. A risky bid to cross death's door and return with Knowledge of the Great Beyond. Knowledge that can be verified by anyone who follows his path.      The implications are staggering. Proof of a hereafter! Perhaps of God, Himself! Knowledge to halt wars, to end at last the ancient animosities between Faiths!     Or perhaps a Knowledge to doom us all . . .     Some believe death's secrets are forbidden to the living, cursed with grave consequences for Humanity. One shadowy sect is sworn to destroy all trespassers, and Ian and Angela have but one hope to survive. They must defy the gates of heaven and hell to steal a Knowledge hidden from the world since the dawn of creation.

The extremely well-researched and exceptionally well-written epic novel The Knowledge of Good and Evil by Glenn Kleier was absolutely amazing, and I am looking forward to the next two installments! WOW! His plot is riveting, and based partly on fact, so it gives the storyline just enough of a believability factor. This novel has been criticized as being "controversial ," and it is easy to discern his negative sources. But, if the shoe fits, people.

After losing his parents in a tragic accident where they saved him as a very young boy, Ian, the former obsessive-compulsive, neurotic priest turned doubting Thomas, seeks to find hell, heaven, and whatever lies in between - or die trying. He needs to know there is an afterlife and that his parents are okay. However, there are forces that do NOT want him to discover what has been hidden and will do anything to stop him. But with the help of his lover/fiancée/psychiatrist, Angela, they seek to discover the knowledge of good and evil, if it is real, through very creative means, with a little help from a few of Alex's friends. However, the reader will be surprised at the obstacles and organizations determined to get in their way! What a ride!!! Think roller coaster!

Glenn has a unique way of blending humor, theology, action and adventure, romance, mystery, intelligence, research (!!!), and a masterful writing ability to create a story at once vivid, informative, and innovative that captures and reels the reader in, and keeps him/her spellbound until the end of the book. He then leaves the reader wanting even more. I will be reading everything Mr. Glenn Kleier has ever published, and am ready now for the remaining two books in this series!

The second effort by Glenn Klier , THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL, like its predecessor, uses the Bible (both old and new testaments) as source material for the great adventure. Wealthy Ian Barringer has never gotten over the death of his parents who died while saving him from burning to death while trapped in the wreckage of a small plane crash. As an adult, and a lapsed Catholic priest, Ian has become a debunker of paranormal claims, focusing on miraculous religious events. Psychologists call this a "reaction formation", as Ian is in reality searching for clues to an afterlife so that he can know that he will someday be reunited with his parents. Ian has a beautiful, smart MD fiancé who early in the novel discovers him participating as the subject in an induced "near death experience", or NDE, searching for the literal light at the end of the tunnel and proof of the existence of an afterlife, God and the whole shebang.

It's an interesting enough premise for a novel, but Klier can't quite pull it off. Whereas his genre-bending THE LAST DAY does a masterful job of incorporating Judeo-Christian eschatology , sci-fi and adventure, and contains quite an interesting cast of characters in addition to the two protagonists and the might be-might not be messiah, plus a knock-your-socks-off ending, THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL comes off more like a "DA VINCI CODE"-rerun like romp around the world in private jets and exotic locations (I told you Ian was wealthy) trying to stay one step away from the bad guys and reach the finish line.

What should have been the most interesting parts of the novel, what Ian experiences while undergoing the induced NDEs (yes, there are several), seem very trite and, well, boring to be frank. Dante and many others did it much better. Kier can still write, And write well, and the pacing, using very short chapters, is taut, but in the end the novel is only OK I look forward to his next to find out which one was was the anomaly, THE FINAL DAY or THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL.

Wow. This book knocked my socks off. Do you love speculation and what ifs?
Glenn Kleier is a master at it. In this provocative, psychological thriller he explores
serious questions of
what happens in the space between life and death?
What is it like to be God, to be the Devil?
What is the true nature of Good and Evil?
Probably not what you think.

And of course there’s a romantic bent, because I love that. A brilliant psychologist and a PTSD
ex-priest fight their own personal demons when they embark on an exciting but dangerous search for truth,
His is about soul and spirit and redemption; hers is about the nature of sanity and how to help the man she loves
keep his.

The fascinating perspective on God was such a thrilling revelation for me who has been a search for my own spirit.

Ian is a complicated guy: He is in love with the extraordinarily beautiful and smart Angela, is studying Near Death Experiences and trying to rescue his beloved parents from Hell after they saved his life when they were in a car accident together. Author Glenn Kleier has given people who enjoy tense thrillers a reason to celebrate... The Knowledge of Good And Evil is imaginative, taught, tense and enough narrow escapes just to keep it real.

Angela is the type of heroine we all love: she is bright, smart, listens to her own, interior panic button and saves Ian more than once from heading into straight folly. I'm not sure a book exactly like this has ever been attempted before. For one thing, the reader gets about 30 prompts to a web page to show the readers a particular painting or a scientist in the world of certain esoteric sciences. The reader doesn't have to wonder why a special church in Europe is so distinct.... instead of wasting 2 pages on trying to describe it, Kleier just takes the reader to a special website that has all the photographs on it. This gave the book extraordinary depth.

Even though I tend to gravitate to literary novels and have recently been on a tear reading very old novels, The Knowledge of Good And Evil was a fun break from the more formal books and go on an old-fashoined (dangerous) treasure hunt that takes us all over this world and into others.

I loved the book. The ending was good until the very end and then I was of mixed emotions.
