I was fascinated by the idea of a man so physically fit, at the top of his game, having to walk away because of potential brain trauma.

I absolutely loved this book! Right from the opening lines, which made me laugh out loud and embarrass myself in public. I love how each one of the characters in this book has layers and isn't who they first seem to be. Molly O'Keefe writes characters who become so real for me, so alive. They talk and argue like real people, unlike the characters in many contemporary romance novels. Sure, sometimes they're mean to each other, lash out and say things they later regret. Just like we all do in real life.
One pet peeve I have about the romance genre as a whole is how generic the heroines can be. In an effort to make them likeable, some authors make the heroines so sweet and bland and perfect that, while they won't offend anyone, neither are they very interesting. O'Keefe's characters seem real to me. Fully formed. Human.
Can't Buy Me Love is funny, sexy and heartbreaking.
I can't recommend this book highly enough. Especially for those of you who don't necessarily read a lot of romance. This book will surprise you with it's humor, it's pathos, it's depth.

Very tightly plotted, a wonderful cast of secondary characters, and Tara Jean and Luc are epic! Another Molly O'Keefe masterpiece!!

I gamely began this book with the understanding (based upon the back cover blurb) that the subterfuge would be quickly discovered between Tara Jean and Luc. It was- but by the time that mission was accomplished I was so disgusted by the plot that it was all I could do to keep reading. I sincerely tried but the "conflict" of the story of Tara Jean's ex's appearance was so contrived and nonsensical that I could not complete the book. Luc is a rich hockey player, Tara Jean maneuvers herself into a pretty sweet set-up (she's supposed to be independent, strong, taking control of her life) and she is still weak enough to get manipulated by her ex?! Frankly, I didn't like Tara Jean as a character and could not get past that; I didn't care what happened to her; with that established it made any actions by Luc appear to be silly as well. I have had a my fill of romances that include a "secret" that can destroy a new found love when the secret is idiotic to begin with. It wasn't enough to keep my attention at all and I felt cheated by the time I spent getting 3/4 of the way through the book. I would not recommend Can't Buy Me Love. Maybe if you are a fan of Molly O'Keefe this is just a bump in the road but for me, a new reader it was enough to let me know never to reach for one of her books again.

I would so have liked to slap them both. Frustration, sheer stubbornness and all that attraction and denial of their own feelings is one hell of a good time and a good read. One who has a past that she rather forget about. The other without knowing what his future holds. A scheming father who wants to see his children before he dies is one hell of a dilemma. Gotta say my kind of book.
So how do opposites attract. You make assumptions, apologize for said assumptions. The attraction starts to build. A bit of necking and grobing here and there. Your feelings start to get stronger. You break down their walls and push with everything you have. You ask for trust, love the willingness to help them in any way you can. Of course by the end of all this the declaration of LOVE is then spilled out. Tara and Luc seriously made me grow a few grey hairs. I definitely love me a ICE HOCKEY player and a sassy, feisty woman. Although there was a lot of push and pull between these two, they finally got their heads out of their a%$#@. It also helped that their family and friends were there to help them fight for their love and future. I would really like to know why Tara was so scared of Jacob at first?
At least Tara finally figured that she deserved to be loved regardless of her past and that she pushed her insecurities away and believed that Luc was worth loving and fighting for. I am so glad he was able to break her walls down and know when she was lying and bs and how he could see right through her.
As for Luc he was man enough to realize that he didn't need or care about what his dad thought. He needed to make decision for himself based on what will make him happy :)
Can't wait to read Can't Hurry Love. Eli and Victoria's story
