I LOVE this cookbook. It was passed onto my mom from a client years ago and she sent it to me when I was in my early 20s. It explains how to stock your cupboards, how to plan for dinner parties, and most importantly, how to cook everything from boiled eggs to rack of lamb. It rates the recipes with stars; one being easy and four being difficult. My favorite is the Apple Pie recipe. First, the pie crust recipe is the easiest I have ever made and it turns out perfect every time. Then the Apple Pie filling gets rave reviews every time I make it. My now 13 year old son ate half a pie in one day! Normally I prefer cookbooks that show pictures of the prepared food. This one does not, but I consider it my most valuable cookbook of my collection. I cannot believe it is no longer being published. If anything I'd love to see it updated and brought back as a must have for all kids leaving home to be on their own.

I met the author at Lakewood Garden Club in the 80's. I purchased the first cookbook and found her and went to her home and purchased several more about a year later, I gave them away as gifts. This is one of my favorite cookbooks. I have over 800 cookbooks and this one is one of my favorite out of the top five that I love to cook out of. She uses everyday ingredients, and lets you know how hard or easy they are to cook. The gooey muffins are the best ever and everything else I've ever made from this book cannot be beat.......

Well, worth whatever you have to pay. MMMMMMMMm good food! Cynthia McKee/Lakewood/CA

I received this as a gift when I was in my early twenties. It is my favorite cookbook. When my original copy started splitting and falling apart I bought a second one. The blender hollandaise sauce is delicious, the no fail pie crust always comes out perfect, actually, every recipe I've tried has tasted good. My teens even use it when they cook. I agree with the other review. It would be great to see it in print again.
