I'm always impressed by the work of Brett and the other authors and these builds should provide plenty of inspiration for other modellers of all abilities. The painting and weathering techniques illustrated have applications far beyond the specific subjects.

I'm currently in the process of building two models representing the American Volunteer Group (AVG) who flew an early model of the P-40 against the Japanese Army Air Force at the start of WW-II. This book provided me with valuable information about building an accurate model of the aircraft flown by David Lee "Tex" Hill, one of the aces of the group (and one of my personal heroes.

Most kits of the P-40B are out-of-scale in one part or another, and this book helped me to model the one I'm working on; modifications of several contours, mainly the horizontal stabilizer, were required. In addition, paint colors can be a problem as these early aircraft were to be sent to Great Britain before being co-opted by the AVG for Flying Tiger use.

My bad: The Osprey guide is great with the exception of the paint chip explanation in the back of book. They don't match the paint chips. I should have returned the book for a replacement. The lesson learned is that inspect your purchases when you receive them.

This book is great for detailing up a P-40 - great detailing on how to detail the plane in various modes/style ...

Great content and coverage of the P-40 seies aircraft in our hobbies kits for when the book was published on then available kits. I don't like that you can't make the pictures and/or text larger like you can with PocketMagazines products, that is my biggest reason for buying printed magazines and books in electronic forms, so I can enlarge something for details or reference. Good reference for the subject though, but I can get it in print for the same price, which would be better if I can't enlarge the pictures.
Wat!?
Great book on P40's. Several scales are represented here. I learned some model techniques I did not know before, and I have been a modeler for 40 years. I am a big P40 fan, and I had this book close by on the last one I built. It's priceless. Can't do without it. :-)

Nice reference to see what others have done.

A good cross section of projects. The finishing (specifically painting) techniques could be expanded, or even a separate chapter on painting and weathering techniques added to the book. I found the book invaluable to doing a quality build of a 1/48 P-40.
The book arrived quickly and as advertised.
