This book is dry and a little repetitive. It does a great job of retelling historical episodes in the area but does very little to illustrate the area or personalities found in McMinn County. I would describe the book as informative but lacking in character. It is appropriate for research or historical interest if the reader already has connections to the area, but not necessarily helpful for anyone wanting to develop an understanding of the culture without having ever been to the area.

I love this book! It has so many stories of forgotten gems and references families that have been in the area since nearly the foundation was establish for the area. I would definitely recommend this book if you are looking to learn more about the area.
