Simon Hawke (born September 30, 1951) is an American author of mainly science fiction and fantasy novels. He was born Nicholas Valentin Yermakov, but began writing as Simon Hawke in 1984 and later changed his legal name to Hawke. He has also written near future adventure novels under the pen name J. D. Masters and a series of humorous mystery novels. He was the Colorado Writer of the Year, 1992.

In the 27th Century, international disputes are resolved through time travel, clocking soldiers from the future into conflicts of the past.

The Time Commandos Series in General. com User, April 17, 2000. I have had the pleasure of reading this entire series of books, and truly enjoyed them all. What I enjoy the most about the books is the blending of history and scifi in such a seamless storyline, or the blending of two different stories into one storyline. The reserch and skill that this requires is wonderful. I would recommend these books to anyone.

Simon Hawke uses the story as the basis for The Ivanhoe Gambit (1984) the first novel in his time travel adventure series TimeWars. Pierre Efratas wrote a sequel called Le Destin d'Ivanhoe (2003), published by Éditions Charles Corlet. Christopher Vogler wrote a sequel called Ravenskull (2006), published by Seven Seas Publishing.

I've been reading Simon Hawke's work for about thirty years now. I started with the Time Wars, and became addicted almost instantly. Over the years, I recommended this series to a lot of people, but the books were out of print, so I couldn't tell people where to find them. Now, thanks to Mr Hawke's efforts, I can point them to this version.

Read the original paperbacks and have been waiting for this series electronically. Barnes and Noble never put this series in eBook format. Amazon is starting to make it available as an eBook. Finally!!!!! Now get the rest of the series and we are set.

Intriguing characters and situations, a dangerous job that "somebody's got to do." Wouldn't you like to really experience history first hand, even as a 'army grunt'? Great storyline interwoven with a historical novel and history. This is a definite must-read and reread/enjoy many times.

I read this book and all the others on the Timewars series years ago when they first came out. Excellent story. Simon Hawke is truly an amazing author.

This was one of my favorite series when I was a teen. I was hooked by the evocative cover (faceless time-traveler, mixture of modern and historic technology) and the fast-paced, exciting and often humorous story made me a fan of the series. I re-read all the books this last year and enjoyed them again. The series is at it's best when it drops the main characters into a historic scenario and we find out that in this world some literary characters (like Sir Wilfred of Ivanhoe) are real.

Loved this series when it first came out. A different take on the time travel/ sci-fi genre. Thrilled it finally became available as an eBook. Hope the rest of the series becomes available soon.
Great book.
