Souls on the Wind tells the story of several souls throughout history

Souls on the Wind tells the story of several souls throughout history. A thriller with a unique phenomena investigating various metaphysical concepts and the theory of past lives. With plenty to ponder and think about, Souls on the Wind is a unique read, very highly recommended. Conlee is masterful at weaving suspense throughout the pages; a number of fast-paced twists and turns will have the reader gasping and constantly questioning the motives of the people around the main characters. The book is a gratifying, quick read–no words are wasted here–leaving fans thirsting for more adventures with Tom and Cass.

In Souls on the Wind, readers ride that mysterious zephyr from Vienna to California and, just possibly, into one of the bloodiest battles of the American Civil War. All because of a stolen crown jewel that may have supernatural qualities.

My seven books, historical novels, have won numerous awards. A big thank-you to all the good folks who packed the room for my book talk at the La Mesa Library. The turnout included several friends, old and new, and I was honored to have you there.

The echoes of "Souls on the Wind" will reverberate for a long time. I'd compare its plot to a chess game, except I don't think the game has so many men on the board. This book is riveting. I've never read a book that built suspense so relentlessly and then--most impressively--carried it at a high pitch for so long.
Conlee has a knack--that I first admired greatly in "Every Shape Every Shadow"--for putting the reader smack in the middle of the narrative. In some way that I don't yet understand, I was not reading about it, I was living in it, whether in California, Vienna, or the Antietam battle. In the present case, I may be able to tie it to the fact that we had 40-50 knot winds blowing yesterday, only I've never heard of a "Föhn" or a Santa Ana wind in these parts.

I have read all of Roger Conlee's books and this is by far the best. He gives a real sense of place and has well developed characters. You want to root for Tom and Cass as they try to do the right thing. It may start a little slow but picks up steam to the point of reading half the night to finish it. I highly recommend this author.

I have read all of Roger Conlee's novels, and I enjoyed this one the most. It moves very fast with well-defined characters and lots of action. In fact, I couldn't put it down.
Tygolar
Let me admit that the author, Roger L. Conlee, is a friend of mine. And that reading Souls on the Wind, I got a particular kick out of mentions of our alma mater, San Diego State University, where we were both journalism majors. That aside, Conlee's fourth book is truly engrossing. I started reading it on a Friday afternoon and finished it by Sunday night. Warm, dry Santa Ana winds sweep through Southern California. I had no trouble relating to the Fohn winds of Austria and Switzerland that legend says carry the souls of the dead and cause people to flash back and forth in time and past lives. Conlee's descriptions of scenes include sights, sounds and smells in a way that flows with the narrative. His characters seem like real people facing real problems and disappointments, unexpected solutions and sweet victories.
Goldcrusher
Just when you think, "I've got it", Roger Conlee masterfully inserts a suspense building twist in the plot that leaves the reader unable to put this page turner down. Souls on the Wind is a thriller dealing with present day characters along with souls from the past experiencing time travel to and from the American Civil War. Conlee is known for his fastidious attention to historical detail and character development and this novel is especially charismatic concerning main characters Tom and Cass. I found myself bonding with them as though I knew them personally, cheering them on. Having read all of Roger Conlee's novels I am unable to select a favorite as all of his titles have left me wanting more from this author. Each novel has a uniqueness all its own demonstrating true genious. There is something for everyone in the novels of Roger Conlee.

"Souls on the Wind," Roger Conlee's latest novel, does not disappoint. Conlee's unique style of setting, character, and plot woven into a broad but intricate tapestry, held my interest from beginning to end. As usual, Conlee is careful to get the history and the settings correct. It's a modern day story involving a detective, a girl, and a gem, but is also a tale that strides mysteriously into the past--in this instance onto a battlefield of the American Civil War. These two elements of the story seem incongruent at first, but the end of the book brings it all to a very satisfactory close. "Souls on the Wind" is an excellent read.
