I was very disappointed upon receiving this book and opening it's beautiful cover to discover the poor quality of the publishing inside. There is something about the grey wobbly stripes down the sides of the pages that make me think that it has been printed using a decades-old photo-copier at the local library. As I paid $30 for the book, and then about $20 for shipping, one can see why I was hoping for something of better quality. Also, recipe books need to be made of thicker, glossier, paper, in-case one spills food or liquid on them when one is cooking and looking at the book at the same time. It's a simple, practical, requirement.

I am also disappointed because the book is a Christmas gift, and I was hoping for nicer presentation, with glossy images of delicious-looking food and the like. The recipes actually sound very good, but I don't know if they are or not because i have yet to test them, so how do I know?

First, this book has no pictures. Cook books should have pictures. Second Davis uses a lot of maple sugar which is really expensive and hard to find in my area. I had hoped it would be more molasses and honey. I donated my copy to my library.

The book was used but looked to be in new condition. I'm sure my nephew will enjoy many of the goodies inside.
The book is beautiful. But I was looking for recipes that used mostly honey, maple syrup, or molasses. She loves using maple sugar and uses it in tons of recipes. I think maple sugar is too much like sugar and don't want to use it. I haven't made one thing yet because I don't have any of the things on hand to use.
