The War of the Marvels was a very well written and intriguing story from start to finish. But if that were it this would be boring.

The War of the Marvels was a very well written and intriguing story from start to finish. The two spend a great deal of time fighting it out with Osborn's Avengers & baby momma getting involved from time to time. Thankfully we have Sana Takeda's painterly art covering the bulk of this saga and in addition to some well choreographed action we have some heavy character work during the violence. While this collection works on its own it does pick up in the middle of a longer ongoing story.

Marvel, Volume 8 book. This is the War of the Marvels featuring an epic battle between Carol Danvers and Karla Sofen for who will be the one and only Ms. Marvel. Now this is the book that should have ended the Ms Marvel Series. The War of the Marvels was a very well written and intriguing story from start to finish. Picking up where the previous volume ended, Karla (Ms Marvel/Moonstone) is confronted with Carol (Ms Marvel... of sorts). The two spend a great deal of time fighting it out with Osborn's Avengers & baby momma getting involved from time to time.

In addition, another woman resembling Carol that goes by one of her old alias', is walking about.

I personally like that Karla (Moonstone) Sofen is given a good deal of face time and character development in this story. It also takes her back to her Thunderbolts (pre Vol 2 & renumbering) and shows that despite everything, Karla does indeed have a conscience.

An incredible read!!!

This 8th volume of the collected run of Ms. Marvel's modern ongoing title is essentially one long fight scene.

But if that were it this would be boring. Thankfully we have Sana Takeda's painterly art covering the bulk of this saga and in addition to some well choreographed action we have some heavy character work during the violence.

While this collection works on its own it does pick up in the middle of a longer ongoing story. Carol Danvers has returned from the dead from the previous arc and has found someone else bearing the name Ms. Marvel. Karla Soflen, a somewhat reformed supevillian, took up the mantle when Norman Osborne was running the Avengers (Mega marvel event called "Dark Reign"). This fight between the two women is over the mantle of "Ms. Marvel" and who, ultimately is worthy of it. Writer Brian Reed understands both characters and is a nice compliment to Karla's appearances from her time with the Thunderbolts.

This prestige hardcover version maintains the quality of others in the releases. It looks nice on a shelf and is sturdy enough.

If you like the cover art, you'll probably like the art as well in this comic.

This was a fun book to read. I liked the battle between the Marvels and it was neat to see the outcome. I prefer HC but I also enjoyed the work all the writers and artists did with this story.

The relaunch of Ms. Marvel was well received around these shores but the good plots seem to have been lost along the line. Here, in the context of a protracted Dark Reign crossover (yawn), we get Ms. Marvel dying and then living again. We also get another Ms. Marvel (Moonstone) and another Carole Danvers. On top of that, art does not help. Avoid.

WAR OF THE MARVELS begins! Karla Sofen battles for her life in the streets of Los Angeles as an exciting new chapter in the history of Ms. Marvel begins! and we find ms. marvel trying to get the dark avenger moonstone off her back as they fight all over los angeles and moonstone takes new turn on the superhero life when separated from the source of her powers and without in 72 she will die and she finds she has to reevaluate her life as as she takes a step into the right direction towards becoming a hero
I tried to read this and I tried to like it, but this was really just boring. I got through 2 issue of this graphic novel, and I have to admit I was just not interested in what was going on. Some of the descriptions of this comic mention Deadpool, well he's not in this comic at all. What I did read was 2 Ms. Marvels fighting and claiming they are the real Ms. Marvel, and that is something I had no interest in.

I don't recommend this comic to anyone.
