firstly, the book (other than this) is in great condition. but upon getting to the goblin section of the book i found somebody's notes for lairs. and it's not like they were a home-made campaign (some kids ideas for a dungeon sounds cute). No. Its just the written information over again. this. on multiple pages.

mostly a nostalgia buy but still annoying to buy an advertised "like New Product" when it's clearly not.

I taught my son how to read with this book and he just graduated boot camp and I was cleaning his room and I found it. He had kept this book for 18 years.

I bought this for my boyfriend, who loved this book when he was a child. It arrived in great condition and he was very happy with it.

I have a seven-year-old nephew and I wanted to get him a neat book. I was curious about this book; I didn't want some huge, wordy thing that was part of some ridiculous series (*cough cough Young Jedi*). This is exactly right. It's got tons of full-color illustrations and a cute meta-story about young apprentice monster-hunters, and hits all the high notes for a monstrous manual.

It doesn't have any D&D stats (though it does have average heights and weights and dietary needs and such) for the monsters, just a bunch of evocative descriptions. It's exactly what a monster book should be for a kid who doesn't know anything about gaming, and makes the perfect bedtime or naptime reader.

Hopefully in a few years, with this book and maybe a companion book or two, he'll be interested and grown-up enough for me to run a quick dungeon delve or two. As a product to stoke the imagination this book is like catnip.

I've always loved reading the monster manuals, I could never afford the real thing. This book is small dip into the monster pool it doesn't have the stats that the big books have. Though it has synopsis of each monster, with a profile and art.

some of the monsters don't get illustrations.

I love this entire series. I have a 6 year old who really wishes he could play DnD and these are an excellent starting point. He spends hours reading them and detailing the monsters to his dad. Great buy.
