Patricia St. John's life is a story in itself but she grew up to become one of the world's best-loved Christian writers for children.

After almost being born in the middle of a storm on the Bay of Biscay it was no surprise to see Patricia's life take twists and turns along the way. She had an adventurous spirit so when the bombs fell during the blitz in London there she was, working as a nurse! When looking after 30 children in a boarding school as housemother her exciting bedtime stories kept the children up! They were later to become her classic stories, Tanglewood's Secret and Treasures of the Snow! When her brother needed her help at his hospital in Morrocco Patricia just jumped on the back of his motorbike and went with him. Every place that she called home was the inspiration for yet another story that brought children to understand and love their Lord Jesus Christ.

This is an amazing story of a much-loved figure in Christian history. A trailblazer for women, and for Christians everywhere.

This is a fun, fast-paced read for the younger readers or a good read-aloud for the older elementary ages. I read it to learn more about Patricia St John, and I am delighted with the lady I met! If you have girls who need a great role model or a push to be a little more adventurous, the story of Patricia St. John is just the story!

We have read books she wrote and have seen the movie Treasures of the Snow - all based on places she has lived. Her books are based on her life experiences, and she had some real adventure along the way!

Thank you again to Carole Joy Seid for a great recommendation

I read this aloud to my kids recently. We've read most of Patricia's books, so reading her biography was a great treat. My kids loved it and begged for more. They particularly loved hearing about the adventures Patricia had and how many of them ended up being backdrops to her wonderful children's stories. Best of all was how this biography has really planted the seed of missions in the heart of my 10-year old. Thanks to this book, we've had some amazing deep theological conversations about missions and God's will in our lives. Irene Howat has written some fantastic stories, but I think that this one will remain on the top / near the top of our All Time Favourite list. :-)
