Abraham "Abe" Silverstein (September 15, 1908 – June 1, 2001) was an American engineer who played an important part in the United States space program. He was a longtime manager at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and its predecessor, the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA). He was instrumental in the planning of the Apollo, Ranger, Mariner, Surveyor, and Voyager missions, and named the Apollo program after the Greek and Roman God.

Thomas Edward Silverstein (February 4, 1952 – May 11, 2019) was an American criminal who spent the last 42 years of his life in prison after being convicted of four separate murders while imprisoned for armed robbery, one of which was overturned. Silverstein spent the last 36 years of his life in solitary confinement for killing Corrections Officer Merle Clutts at the Marion Penitentiary in Illinois.

Silverstein's poems and illustrations were not so ghoulish that they gave me nightmares, but this one came pretty close. 10. "Listen to the Mustn'ts," Where the Sidewalk Ends. The no human contact punishment was imposed by Norman A. Carlson, the Bureau of Prisons director, in 1983 in response to Mr. Silverstein’s savage stabbing of the prison guard. Mr. Silverstein was sentenced to life without parole and transferred to the penitentiary at Marion, Ill. (That conviction was overturned when the credibility of jailhouse informants was questioned. But prison officials said they had found no evidence of mistreatment.
