by Laura Peyton Roberts. When a classmate is diagnosed with leukemia, the students at Clearwater Crossing High School organize a fund-raising carnival. But after they've formed teams to work the booths, the members of one group find they couldn't be more different. There's aloof Melanie, the girl who has it all, and wannabe Nicole, who only wishes she did.

Laura Peyton Roberts has done it again! I couldn't put this one down either! I especially liked the way she is so. .Maybe they're good because they take our focus off of us and let us see other people's problems and lives in a new light.

Laura Peyton Roberts has done it again! I couldn't put this one down either! I especially liked the way she is so detailed, you feel as though you are watching the story take place right before your eyes. She picks topics that really relate to teenagers, any one of EIGHT PRIME could really be me or my friends! She keeps me hanging at the end with her cliff hangers, that is the only draw-back to the Clearwater Crossing series.

Review of The Diaries
Hot Toasty Rag, May 14, 2017

I remember absolutely loving this book when I was in middle school. The idea of four high school girls writing in a diary about their grown-up problems was fascinating to my pre-teen self. I probably read it a dozen times to prepare for my own journey through high school.

I read it again recently, and either my literary taste has changed drastically, or I am no longer in the same place in my life as I was when I was twelve. I’m banking on the latter. These four teenagers complaining about their boyfriends, crushes, eating disorders, and seemingly perfect lives, didn’t move me nearly as much now that I’ve lived through high school. In the thick of that world—or before it, in my case—this is a compelling, if not essential read. But for older readers, I wouldn’t really recommend it.

I didn’t find out until after revisiting this childhood favorite that The Diaries is actually a special edition compilation of the first four books in the Clearwater Crossing series. That being said, if this story appeals to you, you might want to read the other books in the series first. Each book in the series is written in third person, much like the Sweet Valley or other addicting high school series, and this special edition was compiled as a “backstage guide” to the storylines already explored in the earlier books. What was Jenna really thinking during the carnival? How did Nicole really prepare for the beauty contest? Only Melanie knows how far from her perfect her life is, and only Leah knows the real Miguel. If you’re in the mood for a fun high school read, check out the series or start with The Diaries like I did.

I've really enjoyed reading this book, because it kind ofrefreshed me on what happened in books 1 to 4, but I really didn'tfind out a lot more than in the other books. They even repeat theconversations from the books.
We already know what the girls arelike- Jenna tries to be kind and patient, Nicole is obsessed with herappearance and weight, Melanie is nice but misunderstood, and Leahdoesn't care about being a model but is just interested in hereducation. Basically, that's what you read in the diary. Nicole, whoI find a bit tiring, had the least interesting diary, but in Melanie'sdiary, you find out a bit more about how lonely and sad she really issometimes. Jenna's diary offers her perspective about the beginningof Eight Prime, and Leah's diary was my favorite because I likeher.
I can't say the diary was boring, because it's not. However,it's not worth buying unless you want to collect the entire series. Iwould just recommend trying to get a copy from a friend or out of thelibrary.
X-MEN
Upon seeing "The Diaries" for the first time I was very interested to see it, but I didn't need to read much of it before realizing that it is just a watered-down retread of the first four books in the Clearwater Crossing series, told from each girl's point of view (Jenna's diary is book 1, Nicole's is book 2, and so forth). Even the conversations are repeated, word for word.
What I think would have been more interesting is a book told from the characters' points of view (and why not the guys, too?) that encompassed material not already covered in the series. It might have been interesting, for example, to read a first-person account of what happened after the Clearwater Crossing series ended - Leah at Stanford, Melanie as a junior, etc.
On its own, "The Diaries" is a good book, but I would recommend just reading the first four books, because they are better.
lifestyle
In the diaries, the girls of Eight Prime tell their thoughts on the first four books. Jenna is first with her thoughts on Maggie, Leah and Miguel's new relationship, etc. Nicole has the second part, with revenge plots for Jesse and her sister Heather. Melanie has the third part while she is in the hospital and home. Finally, Leah has her thoughts on the fourth book with her and Miguel's relationship. Read the first four books instead of this, but have this book to complete the collection.

This book is very good, even though it does repeat books 1-4.It gives you a whole different view of the characters. Read books 1-4 before though else some things might not make sense.

I believe that anyone would enjoy this book, but they should read the whole series before they do.

I loved reading the girl's diaries! The book is based on the first four books in the series. Jenna's diary is the first, Nicole's the second, Melanie's the third and Leah's the fourth. It was so interesting reading what she (depending on who's diary you were reading at the time) thought about what was going on, instead of all the characters. The book is a must for all Clearwater Crossing fans!
