Directed by Luc Jacquet. The real man behind March of the Penguins. With Morgan Freeman, Charles Berling, Romane Bohringer, Jules Sitruk. At the end of each Antarctic summer, the emperor penguins of the South Pole journey to their traditional breeding grounds in a fascinating mating ritual that is captured in this documentary by intrepid filmmaker Luc Jacquet. The journey across frozen tundra proves to be the simplest part of the ritual, as after the egg is hatched, the female must delicately transfer it to the male and make her way back to the distant sea to nourish herself and bring back food to her newborn chick.

With Luc Jacquet’s blessing, Jordan placed the film in third person. We didn’t have time to finesse Morgan Freeman’s narration, so I did six versions with my voice.

Good, relaxing, Sunday afternoon flick.Maybe it's just me..Morgan Freeman's voice is so calming and he's a perfect choice to voice the narration of this nature film. It's touching to follow the penguins as they march to their birthplace and try to raise the next generation is extremely inhospitable conditions. It's a fascinating look at an animal that most of us will never see outside of movies or nature show films such as these, and gives a view into their lives and behavior that we'd otherwise not know. Very well done and great editing and Mr. Freeman's deep, slow timbre somehow seems to fit with the relentless plodding Emperor penguins..

This is one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. I highly recommend it to everyone. It's incredibly touching, education, and altogether a gorgeous take on the value of life and the survival of these beautiful animals that we need to protect. And of course, Morgan Freeman's voice is unbeatable.

Be glad you're not an Emperor Penguin and pray for a voice like Morgan Freeman (he has the most soothing voice!) This documentary explains the triumphs and tragedies of this most awesome creature. If you believe that animals don't have emotions then I guarantee you'll change your mind after watching this. Perfect for children as there is no violence. So, if you were hoping to see sharks gobbling up these magnificent creatures as appetizers then you'll be disappointed. No worries though - there's enough sad tragedy to keep your blood flowing.

beautiful warm and comforting movie. So sad that some of the penguins lost their lives in their natural habit. But that's unfortunately is part of their struggle on a regular basis in search of food and places to hibernate and sleep.

kind of amazing that those penguins survive. (warning for parents: not all the penguins, not all the babies survive.)

The facts about the relationship of the parents to one another was informative. The extreme weather and distance all the pinquins endured to have a chance of hatching just one egg was awasome. I was so wrapped up in the story and all of a sudden I stopped and thought how on the world did the photo journalist stand the extream weather to record enough footage to make the movie.

I like documentaries and learn a great deal about the world we live in through this medium. This one is a fascinating look at a species that has adapted a way to procreate in the coldest place on the planet. The lives these little flightless birds lead is one of the most amazing stories you'll ever hear.
Interesting, fun and family friendly. It lacked the grandeur that other nature programs offer and it was caught up in the 'story' of it all that it lacked the interesting details that many who love nature programs have come to enjoy.

This could be however, and excellent introductory nature program for younger viewers and bottom line: you will enjoy yourself and have fun!
