During a very dark time in my life this book kept me from losing my mind. This book helped me to see a way clear to sanity, to peace. When I find myself sliding back into patterns of doubt and self-hatred, I make myself sit down each morning with this book. Despite what many believe, the hard truth is better than a sweet lie.

For someone wanting to discover truth for oneself without taking a guru's workshop or reading someone else's knowledge, I would recommend this book. My first suggestion would be to watch the free YouTube videos of the recordings of Krishnamurti. The book then helps as a companion guide to his philosophical teachings. The teachings are similar but different at the same time to those of non-duality.

He adds no fluff to his words. He gets right to the point. It's easy to see that he has put a lot of thought into understanding the things a person goes through. I've read a lot of books from different spiritual masters, and enjoyed learning good things from them. But if I had to choose just one teacher, it would be Krishnamurti. He's not some cool celebrity type who charges big bucks to get you all excited for a night. He is serious about understanding what the real truth is. Not your truth or my truth that we can agree with, but the honest to goodness bottom line truth that never changes. And that's all I want, the actual truth, even if it hurts. So if you're serious about knowing who you really are, and ready to go through whatever it takes to get there, I highly recommend all of Krishnamurti's works. Read them, let it sink in, read some more and examine yourself. If you really want the truth you will find his words help peel away layers of what is not true. But be forewarned. Almost everything he says is basically the opposite of everything the rest of the world has forever been telling us we want.

This book is both a useful introduction and/or supplement as an overview and as an in depth study of J. Krishnamurti's expression of the perennial philosophy of both our involution and evolution of consciousness growth towards the oneness of life. I benefited and grew in my understanding of the essential message of J. Krishnamurti's life long message to humanity from reading this book one brief passage at a time each day for exactly one year. Of course, while you are reading this book or even after you complete it you may want to consider reading more than one of his many intriguing books. In the meantime, in my opinion, you can purchase this book with confidence.

Beatiful and awakening. Instead of following some rigid doctrines, JK offers a very efficient and intelligent way to explore the truth that is probably more meaningful and more real . Search yourself diligently!! This is the only way to find your reason of being. JK is a real spiritual master.

I was looking for a daily book of thoughts worth pondering, and this one fills my need. It is slanted toward insight-medication in the zen tradition. Not Christian in style. Some days' thoughts continue on to the next day or two as well, so the reader can continue a line of questioning. As for uplifting, I'd say it helps instill calmness and peace of mind more than a sugary message of unsubstantiated optimism. The daily meditations do more to help the reader ponder his/her own thoughts and feelings than to give advice about what one should think or feel. Personally, that is my preference, and I lilke this book for that reason.

Krishnamurti is essential reading for the spiritual seeker. This book of daily readings make it easy to take in small pieces.
J. Krishnamurti was one of the most influential thinkers of the 20th century and he influenced many great thinkers including Aldous Huxley and Joseph Campbell. His words are simple and seem simple but they are simple as quantum physics. The are the true Vedas without ceremony or gods. These small quotes are easy to digest and mull over for days and months.
