Also, they did just start seriously doing this synthetic biology work, like, almost a decade ago guys, and they STILL haven't figured all of life out! Therefore: there must have been an intelligent designer at the start of life itself. The only reason I took classes in biology and chemistry was because they were recommended for college. When I enrolled at West Virginia State College (now University), I discovered the school didn’t offer the pre-med major I wanted. So to prepare for medical school, I had to choose between chemistry and biology as my major course of study. Biochemist and Christian apologist Fazale Rana, for one, isn't worried. Fazale Rana, Reasons To Believe's biochemist scholar, has written a timely book, Creating Life in the Lab, that examines human attempts to create artificial life forms in the laboratory. With Craig Venter's announcement of having created an artificial bacterium, news sources have been busy speculating what is next. Synthetic Genomics "knocked-out" individual genes to determine what genes were required for the organism to grow and reproduce. They determined that 380 of the 480 genes were essential.

The synthetic component allows for the bio-ink to solidify under the right conditions whilst the former adds extra structural support. The idea behind this ink is to provide a means of being able to 3D print a structure that can remain durable when immersed in nutrients and not damage any introduced cells to the structure. CRISPR could be incredibly important for the future of human biology through permanently modifying genes in living cells to correct future potential mutations and treat the causes of disease. This is impressive enough but CRISPR technology is constantly undergoing refinement and improvement. Many industry experts believe CRISPR-Cas9 has a bright future.

Each year brings to light new scientific discoveries that have the power to either test our faith or strengthen it--most recently the news that scientists have created artificial life forms in the laboratory. If humans can create life, what does that mean for the creation story found in Scripture?Biochemist and Christian apologist Fazale Rana, for one, isn't worried. In Creating Life in the Lab, he details the fascinating quest for synthetic life and argues convincingly that when scientists succeed in creating life in the lab, they will unwittingly undermine the evolutionary explanation for the origin of life, demonstrating instead that undirected chemical processes cannot produce a living entity.

This is an excellent book for those who want study the beginning of life. This book is very deep and somewhat difficult to read for the lay person; however, I chose this book for my son who is a doctor knowing that it would strengthen his faith even more.

Reading this book, Case for Christ by Lee Strobel, Signature in the Cell by Stephan Meyer (which was ruin confiscated
by Amazon & not returned) or Privileged Planet (book or DVD), The cosmos, the earth & DNA screams there is a Creator God
who cares for us personally & ministers to us through information in the space, in the sky & in our body. Evolution is not
right, it's so weird it's not even wrong. Read the results & go to bed at night with evidence for Our Lord.

Dr Hugh Ross and ilk take a lot of heat from some - not all - Christians. The simple Gospel is First Corinthians 15: 1-3. But thank God, we are not saved by science, theology, or philosophy. But life is a school and learning is a joyous thing. Rana, Ross, and Ken Samples are three of my favorites. Google "Dr. Hugh Ross and Biola" for a scholarly critique........mt

This book is essentially a review of the state of origins of life research detailing work that's been done, methodology employed, short comings of the research and the implications of the research outcomes. Rana provides a compelling argument that the research points to an intelligent designer at work.

Fuz Rana's book summarizes the intelligence, materials, creativity, construction, and conditions that must go into creating life ---which leads to a greater appreciation of our Creator. It includes documentation of many attempts at creating life in the lab and the necessary parts and materials that allow life. It illustrates how life is special--even in the most simple forms that allow complex growth.

Don't believe the straw-man caricature of creationists set up by the media. Dr. Rana knows his science and gives an even-handed treatment of all sides of the creation-vs-evolution question.

This book is nothing less than a compilation of emperical evidence and absolute proof of the necessity of intelligent agency required for the construction of life in this universe. Any contemplation of a primitive lifeform assembling itself in primordial pond on the early earth is intellectual folly.
Well written. Presents complex science in an understandable way. Highly recommended.
