With thanks, too, to Ivan Leith for showing us around his sailboat and to D. Niksich for letting us see inside his houseboat, and to both for answering my many questions. Book The Andi McConnell Mysteries. by. Lorena McCourtney.

With thanks, too, to Ivan Leith for showing us around his sailboat and to D. Chapter One. I dropped into a chair at a corner table, glad the little bakery/coffee shop was almost empty. Today not even the aroma of maple bars, apple fritters, and fresh-baked bread could burn through my fog of doom and gloom. Hey, it’s the middle of the afternoon.

I would describe the book as a lighthearted murder mystery which sounds contradictory I know! Let's just say that there are certain parts that made me chuckle.

To compare Lorena McCourtney’s new sleuth, Andalusia “Andi” McConnell, to Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple is a stretch. But imagine an episode of “Murder, She Wrote” with a little more bite, and you’ll have an idea what to expect from McCourtney’s new novel, Your Chariot Awaits. Andalusia has just found out that her much younger boyfriend, Jerry, is a real jerk.

I wouldn’t put it past DDS Molino to come back and check to see if one was in place. In spite of the sags in Joella’s secondhand sofa, I drifted off to sleep with surprising speed. a phone jangling somewhere near my toes and a disoriented Where-am-I? feeling as I shot upright. I scrambled for the phone before it could waken Joella, then hesitated a moment before picking it up. The red numbers on Joella’s clock radio showed 2:10. Phone calls at 2:10 AM are not generally joyous occasions. The voice sounded surprised.

In the course of one week, Andi McConnell turns 60, is downsized from her job, is dumped by her boyfriend, and receives an unexpected and strange inheritance from an eccentric, rich uncle -- a sleek black stretch limousine with bulletproof windows. She knows it's totally impractical, yet the limo has an allure that Andi can't resist.

That allure is considerably dampened, though, when a dead body is discovered in the trunk of the limo. Though Andi has never had any interest in being a sleuth, with her own name high on the list of suspects, she knows she'd better do something before the murder is pinned on her. Andi joins forces with a nosy but charming former TV private eye in a bumbling -- and often hilarious -- attempt to find the killer.

I enjoyed this book. The precipice for the story intrigued me and I was absorbed from the beginning. It was one of those books which made me wish I read for a living - that there was nothing in the world to draw my attention than to the words written on the pages within.

I couldn't imagine receiving a limo and I'm willing to bed the uncle drew names from a hat when he made his last bequests. However, the timing couldn't have been better for Andi but look out. Trouble was afoot and she would have to come up with the answers; she had the itch to solve the puzzle and, in so doing, placed herself in danger. What would happen? Would she escape or meet her demise?

The story made me laugh and it made me grind my teeth, in places, and after the last page had been turned, I knew I'd read the sequel, Here Comes the Ride.

I've immersed myself in self-published authors so much since September, 211 - and I'm certainly enjoying the journey of discovering fantastic writers and storytellers - but it's always refreshing to pay another visit to one of Lorena McCourtney's books.

I have loved everything that i have read by Lorena McCourtney. That includes this one. The character are so convincing and likable. The story develops fairly fast, with a few surprises. Kept me wondering all the way to the end.. Could not put it down!

I loved all the personalities of all the characters in this book. Especially of the dead eccentric rich uncle who left stange articles of inheritance to family members. Andi McConnell at age 60, my age, really made me able to relate to her feelings in the story. The book has great comedy which made me laugh out loud at times, a good who done it story line which kept me guessing till the end. The nosey next door neighbor was an added delight. And what can I say about the limosine with the bulletproof windows and unique inside decore? It added a very fun part to the story. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series which I hope comes out soon. I also loved this author's Ivy Malone Mystery Series which I recommend to all to read.

This book was great, and I read all the books in the series. Then I told my wife and she read them. This is the first book in this series, and you need to read them in order. Each stands alone ok, but the stories come in sequence, so you get to know the characters better if you read them in order. Like her other series that starts with "Invisible," this series is about a mature woman who gets into situations by trying to do good.

I don't want to review each and every book I have read. But, I have all of Lorena McCourtney books and everyone of them are so funny and suspense filled. She has romance in her book without being disgustingly discriptive. She does not use crude language and expresses not only that she is well educated but gives her readers that respect as well. If you want to read books that won't allow you to put them down, then I would suggest reading all of hers.

I like this series but not as much as the Ivy Malone books. I will continue to read about Andi and her interesting new life as a limousine owner/driver & especially look for some developments between Andi & her beau. Their worldviews are not quite compatible, expecting this to come to a head soon. I am really hoping for some more Ivy Malone mysteries though. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!!!

This was a very enjoyable read . . . believable characters, interesting plot, wit and humor, just enough intense suspense and a satisfying resolution. All that and inspiration, too! Yep, another "success story" for you, Mrs. McCourtney! Congratulations and thanks for taking me for a pleasant ride in Andi's "limouzeen!"
Really cute, Andi reminds me of Ivy Malone. The length of the book was good and I enjoyed most of the characters. I bought this series just to see if I want would enjoy them. I don't believe I want to read any more as I am in the middle of the second book and am having a problem holding interest. It is sluggish, just taking to long, doesn't flow like the other series I've read. Andi needs a boast.
