The New Testament is the most copied book in the history of the world. The Manuscripts that Westcott and Hort translated from are themselves innacurate and contradictory . hose manuscripts come primarily from 2 sources: Codex Vaticanus and Codex Sinaiticus.

The New Testament is the most copied book in the history of the world. Westcott and Hort lived in the 1800s, were given positions as chaplains to the official Royal family of the British Empire, and were corrupt Anglican academics who gave the anglican church a new false collation (assemblage) of the Greek Text, and then passed their new False translation to the rest of the church, as IF their version were an improvement.

Westcott, one of the great founders of modern textual criticism, is very complete. In general he avoids bias. Where he does show it, it is fairly obvious. Westcott's book is not for those expecting an easy vindication of the books of the New Testament. This text by B.F. Westcott, one of the great founders of modern textual criticism, is very complete. The only drawback is the fact that the language is somewhat archaic and the writing is not easy to follow for a modern reader. In general he avoids bias. Where he does show it, it is fairly obvious.

Westcott's book is not for those expecting an easy vindication of the books of the New Testament. In fact, in many ways it leaves as many questions as it answers. One comforting fact, however, is that the evidence he presents seems to leave the controversies open to interpretation, rather than dogmatically shutting the door to inquiry.

Personally, I have not yet had a chance to read Metzger or F.F. Bruce or (for that matter) Ehrman to make a comparison. Nevertheless, I believe that Westcott produced a good and complete survey of the evidence on the history of the New Testament canon for its time.
